Out on the literal and figurative fringes of Detroit, Josh Dahlberg’s The Valley and the Mountain (TVTM) alias returns with a Bandcamp Friday exclusive, Invisible Forces. The EP explores the universal and societal laws that can’t be seen other than the effects they have on people and our world.

Invisible Forces is vintage TVTM, complete with the signature low-slung modulations and chugging drum loops that continue to be a focus of the alias. If you’re new to the project, check out past releases on WéMè and Shipwrec Records alongside Gerald Donald, DJ Stingray, DMX Krew, Conforce, and Ceephax.

“Changing Tide” is a steadfast, mid-tempo acid roller with a 303 line that evolves over cascading claps and hats. It makes good on its desire to be a warehouse jack track. “Familiar Moons” layers twinkling keys over the top of a pulsing baseline, against a phrenetic 808 kit. It’s a wavy piece that’s anchored by a Juno-106 and all its charisma.
